OUR STORY

Uvalde Meat's story is one that has been passed down through the years! Since opening in the late 1940s, this local butcher shop has been a pillar in the community providing quality meats and processing to guests from all across the United States. 

December 31, 2021 - Present: 

Enter Tristin and Joe Durham....The classic story of the high school football player and cheerleader who started a relationship that has survived 35 years and 4 children.

Tristin came from a house of education.  Her father was the band director and mother was head of food and nutrition for multiple school districts. Tristin graduated from Texas State and pursued the field of education before being redirected to work for House Majority Leader, Tom Delay, as his lead scheduler. After her second child, Erin, was born, Tristin made the choice to stay home and raise the children while supporting Joe's career (who needed all the help he could get).

Joe took the route of a scholarship in football, but ultimately made a  decision to get in the work force before completing college. His first business was a flooring store, but his father and brothers (4) all had established a career in oil refineries. This provided Joe an opportunity in oil refining that was hard to refuse. He married his high school sweetheart and jumped on this new opportunity head first. Joe embraced the challenges from learning field crafts to harnessing his own drive of entrepreneurship to own his own service contracting business, The Stronghold Companies.

In 2017, with great partners and employees, Stronghold sold to Quanta Inc and Joe continues to operate for the new owners. 

Joe and Tristin come from Corpus Christi and give 100% glory and honor for their many blessings to their savior Jesus Christ.  They both have a passion for family and truly love their wonderful children, 2 boys and 2 girls. 

The whole family delights in making memories in the outdoors which made cattle ranching and easy decision for their ranch lands. Thus was born La Fortaleza Cattle Company, a proud producer of 100% genetic tested Wagyu beef.

Uvalde Meat Market was the final piece of the puzzle to become a fully integrated beef producer providing delicious farm to table wagyu beef products as well as many other protein and snack options.  

Joe and Tristin have seen greatness because of the incredible people that have surrounded them in making the best businesses.  Uvalde Meat Market and La Fortaleza Beef have the same recipe for success and they are extremely proud to be part of it.
